Salary: Band 4, £24,294 – £25,979 per annum, pro rata (Actual salary: £18,410 – £19,687)
Hours: 32.5 hours per week, term time plus 5 additional days

Duke’s Secondary School has an exciting opportunity for a Behaviour Support Assistant to
join the team, to support staff and students throughout the school day with behavioural,
emotional, academic and/or social challenges.

This role is designed to encourage the students to develop and achieve through monitoring
academic progress and ensuring appropriate learning behaviours are carried out in lessons
and around school.

The successful candidate will be resilient, patient and professional when working with the
students in environments such as the classroom, isolation room and interventions where
necessary.

Daily roles and responsibilities include managing an identified cohort of learners and
working on their individual action plans and reviews, communicating behaviour management
processes with teachers and parents, and completing student welfare and progress
documentation in line with policy and procedure.

Main Role and Responsibilities:

  • Establish positive working relationships and partnerships with young people and their
  • families.
  • Manage an identified cohort of learners in need of extra support in mainstream and
  • intervention classes, liaising with parents and ensuring progress.
  • Work alongside class teachers to ensure that the students’ needs are met and any
  • necessary support is provided to help them progress.
  • Help ensure that student records are updated and maintained in line with policy and
  • procedures.
  • Create and implement suitable learning activities for students and encourage them to
  • engage in lessons with the class teacher and intervention sessions.
