Northumberland County XC Championships

Well done to our athletes at Duke’s Secondary who competed in the Northumberland County XC Championships.

Spirits were high at Temple Park yesterday on 21st January! Six Duke’s students (Y7-Y10) made their school proud by representing the East Northumberland district at the Northumberland County Cross-Country Championships in South Shields.

Each of our athletes put in 110% and made us proud with their hard work, dedication and training for this event. All of our students ran admirably over a testing course in the minor boys, minor girls and Inter boys races. We’re ecstatic with their results and can’t wait to see what they’ll achieve next!

A special mention to Louie Fish who finished 9th in the minor boys race and has qualified to represent Northumberland at the Inter County Championships in Middlesbrough on 8th February.

Kickstarting the Christmas countdown at Duke’s

Staff at Duke’s have shown their generosity by donating 131 advent calendars to Wansbeck Valley Food Bank. The ‘Nurture at Duke’s’ group, which holds an annual winter food collection, decided to kickstart this year’s activities early by asking staff to donate advent calendars – which were gratefully received by the Food Bank this week.

Nurture is now collecting long-life foods, tinned products, toiletries and other items we may buy over Christmas period, such as boxes of biscuits and chocolates for its main food bank donation.

If you would like to contribute to the collection, you can send in any donations into school with your child to be handed to their form teacher.

Deadline for donations = 7 December.
