Salary: Band 2 £20,812 – £21,189 pro rota (actual £9,702 – £9,880)

Hours: 20 hours per week, term time plus 5 additional days

Castle School have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic receptionist to join the team and work in one of Northumberland’s most specialised provisions for children and young people with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties, with a strong focus on providing a safe, happy and caring environment for all pupils and staff.

This role is essential to supporting the day to day operations of the school by providing routine clerical and administrative support, whilst maintaining a high standard of professionalism and adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will be hardworking, creative and personable, with a passion for supporting children and young people in dynamic environment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Providing general administration support, such as answering incoming calls and taking appropriate messages, greeting visitors and guests, and distributing information to parents, staff and members of the public.
  2. Take an active role in administrative duties in preparation for school events.
  3. Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.
  4. Liaise with staff in other departments and with internal and external contacts.
  5. Organise computer based information, with the use of packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel and MIS systems.
  6. Establish and maintain excellent relationships with pupils, parents and staff and other professionals at all times.  Communicate effectively using methods such as text, email, and telephone.
  7. Ensure that the associated administration of any staff or pupil related activity or routine is completed accurately, and appropriately reported.

The person undertaking this role is expected to work within the policies, ethos and aims of the school and to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be assigned. The duties of this post may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the post or level of responsibility entailed. You may be required to carry out additional duties commensurate with the level of the role.
