The Northumberland Church of England Academy is a Multi Academy Trust that strives to provide a supportive, diverse and inclusive learning environment for staff and students.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Thomas Bewick C of E Primary School in Ashington due to the retirement of the current post holder.

We are looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary SENDCo to work closely with the Headteacher to help lead the implementation and development of the SEND provision across our school. Although SENDCo experience is desirable, the NASENCo qualification is not essential. Professional development opportunities for the new SENDCO will be offered, including relevant statutory training as well as regular coaching from the Trust.

The newly appointed SENDCo will join our Trust team of Primary SENDCOs led by the Director of SEND. You will be an experienced and highly organised teacher who has a passion for meeting the needs of our most vulnerable pupils who may also have experienced a challenging start to their young lives. Our school serves the local community by providing a Two Year Old provision and a Nursery and supports our children until Year 6 when they transition to Secondary School. Early identification of our pupils’ needs is key and we work closely with parents/carers and external professionals.

The successful candidate will be part of the school senior leadership team and will work closely with an experienced Primary School Improvement team to play an essential role in supporting the school by ensuring that there is an inclusive and effective SEND provision that engages our pupils, their families and our staff.

This role will primarily be based at Thomas Bewick C of E Primary School, but the successful candidate may be asked to work at other sites within the Trust in the future.

Please get in contact if you would like to visit our school. We look forward to receiving your application!

Please note, interviews for this position will take place across 26th – 28th June.
