An exciting opportunity has arisen for a hardworking, enthusiastic Head of PE to join the PE department at Dukes Secondary School from September 2023. The successful candidate will be responsible for areas such as teaching and learning, vision for the department, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, behaviour for learning as well as resources, the learning environment, performance management, addressing under-achievement and reporting to the senior team on the progress of the faculty.

The successful candidate will be:

  • A consistently good to outstanding classroom teacher
  • Capable of inspiring and motivating others
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, creative and resilient
  • Able to motivate staff to deliver an inspiring and engaging PE curriculum

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of teaching PE in a secondary school environment
  • Proven leadership skills and introduce a process of change 
  • An ability to deliver an impactful and creative PE curriculum which fosters a love of sport within our students
  • A proven track record of  raising attainment across all key stages
  • Knowledge of current education developments within the area of PE
  • An ability to inspire and motivate students so that they enjoy PE and are successful in the subject
  • Play a leading role in expanding our extra-curricular programme
