Salary: Band 5 £26,421 – £29,269 pro rota (actual £22,790 – £25,250)
Hours: 37 hours per week, term time plus 5 additional days

Castle School are looking to appoint an experienced HLTA to assist with lessons and activities within the school and help create a safe and supportive learning environment.

The learners within Castle School have severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties such as autism, and receive their education from a highly dedicated and experienced team of teachers and teaching assistants.

It is essential that the successful candidate is committed to providing the best opportunities to our pupils, and is able to create an environment where they can be inspired and learn in a purpose built provision that has facilities such as multi-sensory rooms, a hydrotherapy pool and an independent living area.

Main Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assess the needs of pupils and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support pupils learning.
  • To have challenging expectations that encourage children to act independently and build self-esteem.
  • Encourage children to play and interact with one another.
  • Support pupils consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs.
  • Develop and implement IEPs.
  • To administer medication to pupils in line with the school’s policy.
  • Deliver learning activities to pupils within an agreed framework of supervision, adjusting activities to meet pupil needs.
