School Names

We are delighted to announce that, following our successful application to form a Multi-Academy Trust, the three current phases of the Northumberland Church of England Academy will be working under their new school names from September 2018.
These new names celebrate how the Academy was originally formed, and will be:
  • NCEA Castle School (formerly The Centre)
  • NCEA Bishop’s Primary School (formerly NCEA Primary)
  • NCEA Duke’s Secondary School (formerly NCEA Secondary)

All current campus names will remain the same, and all schools stay as part of the Northumberland Church of England Academy Trust.

Parents and carers were invited to come and meet Governors and executive leaders last week to hear and ask questions about these changes, and children are being informed currently.  We will officially launch the new names in September, coinciding with a special visit from the Archbishop of York.

Parents and carers should be aware that there will be no immediate changes to any uniform, as each school still remains part of the Northumberland Church of England Academy Trust.  Any potential future changes will be consulted on and would be introduced at the start of an academic year to minimise any costs to families.
