Children in our Reception classes continue to follow the learning and development requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Our aim is to provide your child with a safe, stimulating and caring environment in which they will build strong foundations to support later learning. We have an enthusiastic team of staff who are trained specifically in Early Years education and have a sound understanding of how young children learn. We believe in developing a partnership with parents that will benefit your child’s education. Each child will have their own Learning Journal which will help us to share their learning and development at home and in school. We hope we can rely on your support and interest which is vital for the success of your child’s education.

At the end of the Reception year, the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile will be completed for each child. This is a statutory assessment. Their achievements will be shared with you after the assessment has been completed.

Admission to Reception

It is important to understand that admission to an Academy nursery does not automatically guarantee a place in the Reception class. Reception admission forms will be forwarded to you from Northumberland County Council and must be completed and returned to them. The Local Authority will allocate places to the Academy and inform you that your child has a place with us. We will then write to you allocating your child’s campus based on the Academy admissions criteria. The full Academy admissions policy is available on request.

Meetings for the parents of children starting Reception will be held prior to your child joining the class where specific arrangements for each campus will be explained.
